My Second Day

Last night after I blogged it was time for me to go to bed. My foster mom has set up a nice little kennel for me so that I don’t get tempted to go potty in the house. I am not totally housetrained yet, but I haven’t had a single accident in the house yet! At first I was a little upset about sleeping in the kennel because I really hoped I could sleep in the bed, but after about 10 minutes I realized that my kennel was really nice and the blanket was soft and I fell asleep. I slept all night!

Today I mostly spent playing with the dogs and the two year old in my foster home. I am really starting to like the two year old. I love to give him kisses and he is really nice and sometimes will throw a ball for me. I am even getting used to his toys and they don’t scare me anymore. My favorite thing though is stuffed animals. I am still having a bit of a hard time learning which ones are mine, but my foster mom is patient and helping me learn. She even said that tomorrow we could go to the pet store and I could get my very own new stuffed toy! I went on a walk today too. The leash was a little new to me but they said I did really well. I just love to stop and smell everything.

Living in a house is great! I just hope that I get my own house and my own family soon. Well, goodnight!

Lots of firsts!

Hi, my name is Tyler and this is my first blog. Today has been a very big day for me. I went from living with the other adoptable dogs to living in a foster home! I have never been in a house before and there is so much to learn! I am very easy going and curious though, so I am sure I will do fine.

In my new foster home there are three other dogs, two regular humans, and then this funny looking human they call “a two year old”. He looks like the other humans only he is very short, very fast, and very noisy. I am not sure what to think of him yet, but I think we could be friends. I just have to get used to all the noises he makes and how fast he goes. He has lots of toys and I am not quite sure yet how to tell his toys from the toys I am allowed to have, but my foster mom is helping me with that and I am learning fast.

So anyway, I have never been in a house before and there are lots of new things here. There is this crazy thing they call a mirror and every time I walk by it another dog shows up. I bark and bark and then run to the back of the mirror and he is gone. It is the strangest thing too, because this other dog looks a lot like me. There is a big box that sits in the corner that they call a TV. Whew, that thing scared me when they turned it on! I couldn’t figure out where the noises were coming from. I kind of like it now though because if I lay right in beside it I stay really warm. The scariest thing in the house though is something called a vacuum and it chases you around and makes a lot of noise. I think that will take a little getting used to.

There are lots of good things in the house though. The humans are really nice and so are the other dogs. In fact, my new dog friend Cady and I have been taking lots of naps snuggled up together. The carpet is nice and soft and so is the bed. Oh, did I tell you about the bed? Oh my gosh, it is the best thing ever. It is big and soft and has a ton of blankets and pillows….. it is my favorite place ever….I love the bed! There is lots of new food here too. The “two year old” gave me a grape and that was really tasty. The banana wasn’t so bad either.

Well, I am pooped out after such a long day. I am so happy to be in a foster home and so excited to see what will happen tomorrow!

I had my surgery done on Friday, and I am finally seeing well enough to get back on the computer. Man, I am so glad I had that done! I can see, and my eyes feel good, and it is just wonderful! I still have stitches but they get to come out soon and then I should be completely back to normal.

I have really good news from today. I got to go on a home visit and meet a family that might adopt me. I don’t know….. I went with 4 other dogs, but I think I might be top in the running. The family was really great, but I think this might be their first dog so they needed to think very hard about which one of us to adopt. That is awesome though in a way because then they will be sure which one of us is a good fit for their family. I hope they pick me! They seemed so great and they even had a little girl. I love little kids and I want one all for myself. They had two cats too. I only met one of them but he seemed nice. I think we could be friends in time. We will see. I am crossing my paws as hard as I can!

I have been busy

I still haven’t gotten used to blogging, and am having a hard time fitting it into my schedule. There are so many squirrels and so little time!

I was so excited the other day because Tina told me that someone wanted to adopt me. We met them and they liked me, but I guess I was too big for their apartment. They did end up adopting my friend Nigel though, so I was happy about that. I hope I get adopted soon though. I love my foster parents, but I can’t wait to get into a home where I know for sure I can stay forever. It makes me a little sad, but I know my time will come soon.

I did find a new hobby though. I LOVE getting baths. My foster mom sprays me down, but then she puts this shampoo on me and just massages it in. I could stand there and let her do that all day long. Then, when she is done I get to play in the water again, and then I feel very clean. It is such a nice feeling. I would take a bath everyday if she would let me.

Well, I am off to go lie in the back yard some more.

Been a while

It has been a long time since I have written. I went and stayed at a different foster home for a little bit. It was fun, but they knew they could only take me in for a bit to give my other foster home a break, so I am back. I am glad though…. I like it here.

Today was pretty nice. I didn’t do much except lie around as usual. My foster mom took a nap on the couch though and let me sleep up there with her. It was sooooo comfortable getting to sleep under a blanket with my head on the pillow too. I got a HUGE surprise when I got up though. I went on a home visit! A family might be interested in adopting me and I got to go meet them. They were really really nice, but I’m not sure if they are going to pick me because there was five of us there to meet them. I think they are going to pick Taz actually. That is ok because Taz is a really nice dog and I think she would like it there. I know my perfect home will come along soon.

Oh, did I tell you! I got to go to an adoption event last Sat.! It was so much fun just hanging out under a tree outside with all the other dogs. Some kids came with me and I got to play too so that was neat. Oh, and you should see me now…. I walked by a mirror today and realized that almost all of my hair has grown back. I am gorgeous if I do say so myself!

Well, off to bed. I hope those people call tomorrow and I get adopted. We will see.

Well, hi!

My name is Taz and I am new to the blogosphere. I guess I will tell you a bit about myself. I am about 1.5 years old and I currently live in Olathe Kansas with my wonderful foster family. I love kids, I love other dogs, I love being outside…. you know, typical dog stuff. I am looking for a permanent home though if you know of one. I love my foster family, but I can’t wait to get into a home where I know I can stay forever. Tomorrow should be a big day for me. See, for a while we thought I had allergies because my eyes would get all gooey. Well, I went to the vet today and it turns out I have entropion. You know… it is when my eyelid actually turns in and my eyelashes are rubbing on my eye. Well, tomorrow I get to go in and have it fixed, so no more gooey eyes for me. I’m not worried though because Dr. Strickland is a really good vet and I know my foster mommy Sam will take very good care of me. I am excited to go actually so that my eyes feel better. I will let you know how it goes.

My post is going to be short tonight. I am so tired. My foster family was home all day today, and we did yard work. Lots and lots of yard work. I thought it was pretty fun actually, though my foster mom didn’t seem to enjoy it. She picked a lot of weeds, which seems pretty boring to me. That is why I played tag with Cady (the dog) and Ethan (the baby) in the backyard. Ethan showed me his swimming pool though, and I think I might like it. Today I only stuck one foot in, but it felt really good in the heat. Maybe tomorrow I will try it again. *Yawn* Oh man, I better get to bed. I need my strength for tomorrow if I am going to try swimming again.

So, this is kind of cool. My foster mom showed me how to use the computer, and told me that I could tell all of you about myself. I don’t have a lot to write tonight, but I figured I should at least try it out. I spent most of my day out in the back yard just watching the world go by. I am very glad it finally stopped raining. I hate being trapped inside. I saw a squirrel. That was cool. And a rabbit. I couldn’t catch them though. I just can’t get over how nice it was outside today. It was just a little bit cool which is perfect for a dog like me with so much hair. I played a little with Doc but then he wanted to go inside. Oh, you don’t know Doc. Doc is the other dog at my foster home. He is a nice guy, but I would rather be with the humans in my house than with him. He always tries to get me to play, but I really would just rather go on a long walk with my foster mom. I guess that is just how I am. I love people and I LOVE excercise. Ok, well, I am off to bed. I will post again soon!

Ugh! Bath time!

Well, I had yet another new experience today. I got my first bath. I was scared at first because the floor of the tub was slippery, but after a bit, it felt really good. My foster mom bought some special shampoo for me to help with my skin. I guess it had Aloe and Tea Tree oil in it. I dunno. Whatever it was though, it felt GOOOOD. I especially liked the automatic massage I got as she was scrubbing me down. I got out of the tub and I just felt so great that I had to run around the house as fast as I could to dry off. LOL, I think I surprised my foster dad though. He was taking a nap and I jumped in bed with him and got him all wet. I made up for it though by giving him lots of kisses. I also figured out that door thing today too. You know how I told you there is a special door that the other dogs can walk out of? Well, turns out it is called a doggy door, and I figured out how to walk through it today too. Yeah! Unlimited access to the back yard! Well, Ethan went to bed early and the house is quiet, so I think I am going to go lie down in my kennel and sleep too.
